Memorial Day

We had a jam packed Memorial Day weekend! We spent the majority of Saturday at the pool for a birthday party and swimming. Sunday we started out with a picnic at Coffenbury Lake and the kids all fed the squirrels. We followed lunch with fishing off the dock - and even Elie was able to cast her own pole!
We then took the kids over to Battery Russell and explored the old lookouts. The boys had a wonderful time pretending they were brave soldiers.
Then we headed to Social Security Beach at the mouth of the Columbia River, which is a great place for beachcombing. We headed up to the Astor column after that with the intent to climb to the top, but it's not open for another month due to restoration of the stairs. So we took the kids to the discount movie theater in Astoria to see Monsters Vs. Aliens and have pizza for dinner.

Monday we spent our time in the backyard finishing up the vegetable garden. Happy to say that everything is finally in the ground and ready to just be tended! Tyler only has 2 days left of preschool and Cameron's countdown is 11 days! Bring on summertime!
