Scouts and Softball

*This post is part of "Project Catch Up"
- a post a day until I'm caught up! Forgive me if they're out of order.... :)
The first week of summer brought Cub Scout Day Camp for the boys.  It was a great kick off.  The Scout camp is held at Camp Rilea and the boys get to do all sorts of wonderful things - BB shooting, archery, fishing, hiking, woodworking, etc.  It was super exciting for Tyler to get to participate in the whole week this year - especially since he's still too young for Camp Kiwanilong yet.

During family day on the last day of camp, Cameron and his Webelo group got to assist in retiring an old worn flag.  There's a big ceremony for this in which they cut the red stripes, white stripes, and blue field with stars and a soldier reads aloud the significance of each before it is respectfully and carefully burned.

Elie spent the week with me.  We had our own girl scout camp (you can see what we did for fun by clicking these words).  She also got to participate in her very first softball camp!  She could not have been more excited about finally having her own "big girl" activity to go to.  After spending pretty much her entire life being schlepped to and from her brothers practices/games it's finally her turn, and she couldn't wait.

The camp was provided for school age kids and run by a great friend of mine - Cameron's teacher this last year.  She also happens to be the high school varsity softball coach, and she put on an amazing clinic.
Elie even made the front page of the local paper - she felt like a total rock star.
