Over the highway and through the ice....

After spending last weekend in Seattle for Ronny's annual FISH EXPO, we came home to below freezing temps and a snow day that turned Thanksgiving into a festive week's vacation!
We had a really nice holiday this year first at Ronny's parents' house....
....and then mine.  We were so thankful not to have to drive over the coast range to Hillsboro like the old days.  This was the first year the kids watched the entire "A Christmas Story" with Grandpa Mac.
When we opened our door at home, we were greeted by our personal "Elves on the Shelves" - Sparkle and Crystal.
They even had an early present for each of the kids to open to start the holiday season....
If you've never heard of the Elf on the Shelf book - the story goes that the elf watches the kids during the day, and flies to the North Pole by Christmas magic every night to report to Santa on their behavior.  Sometimes ours will deliver special notes to Santa from the kids as well.  The elves like to fly back to a different spot in the house every night so in the morning it's a fun game to see who finds them first.  Let the Christmas season begin!!!
