We spent a spontaneous day at the Plumper Pumpkin Patch this weekend with some good friends. It was an absolutely perfect, crisp, fall day and the farm had SO much available for kids to do. Pumpkin slingshots and corn shooting.... a fun corn maze.... a hay ride.... and there were also farm animals, a giant slide, a tractor train, and face painting. We spent the whole afternoon there and still didn't get to it all, but we had a wonderful time. I am also feeling much better about my gardening skills, because many of the pumpkins at the patch were half green / half orange just like the ones in my own backyard - I guess it's the year of the green pumpkins! Mine are close, though - and with the first frost here this weekend it won't be long before I'll need to take them off the vine and see just how far they got. It was nice to go to the pumpkin patch for the fun, but not have to worry about buying pumpkins and carrying them around. The kids have been helping me prepare the house for Halloween. They made these beautiful spooky trees for our Halloweentown Village.... ....but my favorite addition to our decorations this year is our house-o-lantern!
